Munich-based world sales company Global Screen has picked up international rights for CUT OFF, a nerve-wracking thriller directed by genre specialist Christian Alvart ("Pandorum", "Antibodies", "Nick: Off Duty"). It stars Moritz Bleibtreu ("The Baader Meinhof Complex", "Run Lola Run"), Jasna Fritzi Bauer ("Barbara"), Lars Eidinger ("Clouds of Sils Maria", "Everyone Else") and Fahri Yardim ("Almanya: Welcome to Germany", "Nick: Off Duty").
The movie is based on the international bestselling book by Sebastian Fitzek, whose work has been translated into 24 languages. It sends a young artist and a coroner into a life-and-death game: During a thunderstorm, Linda is trapped on a lonely island. When she gets a call from forensic doc Herzfeld, pleading for help to save his kidnapped daughter, she finally gives in and performs an autopsy in the deserted basement of the island’s little clinic: only if she finds the lead hidden inside a dead body, Herzfeld’s daughter can possibly be saved. Clue by clue, they unravel the riddle they’re caught up in…
Julia Weber, Head of Theatrical Sales at Global Screen says, “We are thrilled to present a first teaser of Christian Alvart’s next genre gem in Cannes. It features a stellar cast and tells a big, shocking and universal story. In Germany, Warner Bros. will give CUT OFF a broad end-of-the-year release.”
The Producers Regina Ziegler and Barbara Thielen add: „We are proud and very honored, that the internationally renowned author Sebastian Fitzek has put faith in us to produce this movie based on his fabulous and thrilling story.”
Global Screen will start preselling the film at the Marché du Film, Palais des Festivals, Riviera L7.
