Sven Lottner tells Gorsky that his observation of the Vietnamese took him to the warehouse where the untaxed cigarettes for the Berlin market are being being distributed. He saw Victor Lushin, one of the men from the Odessa, leaving the warehouse with a travel bag presumably full of money. Lottner wants to keep the warehouse under observation.
Gorsky and Jelena set off on their own. They travel to Belorussia and find Svetlana in the brothel. As they flee in the night, together with Svetlana, they are pursued. Shots ring out, the car's tyres are hit. At the last moment Gorsky is able to steer the car into a forest. Jelena, Svetlana and Gorsky flee into the woods until they come to a river they can't cross. Gorsky is forced to kill the pimp chasing them in order to save Jelena and Svetlana.
Next morning Gorsky threatens the head of the local police station with the German embassy. In exchange for the pimp's gun he receives Svetlana's passport and free passage. Gorsky brings Svetlana and Jelena back to their home village in Ukraine. Here he finally loses all mistrust of Jelena. When Jelena asks him to take her back to Berlin with him, he agrees.
In Berlin it comes to disaster. The killers hired by Joska Bodrov kill Mischa. While Gorsky goes to his brother-in-law's funeral Lottner continues to observe the warehouse - with success. He follows the lorry, which delivered the cigarettes to the place, and discovers the illegal cigarette factory in a packaging factory near Berlin.
