During Winter, one not often gets an insight into the animal world - especially in the outdoors. Particularly the pictures of the winterly, usually completely hidden underwater world are absolutely unique. This film fascinates with its numerous new and unknown images. How do animals experience the Winter in the Alps? Are they hibernating like the marmot or the badger or are they actually not much less lively than in Summer? How do fish experience the Winter under water? Do they brumate or are their vital functions just reduced down to a certain extent? A frogman from the Allgau takes the film team with him into the icy waters of Lake Vilsalp. The crew wants to know whether pikes and trouts sleep or brumate or maybe even just continue with their normal lives. Above water, the team filmed a herd of chamois and deer during their search for food and their exhausting treks through the deep snow. The camera also shows how the birds spend the Winter in the Alps.
