WHO SHOT MOHAMMED AL-DURA? Three Bullets and a Dead Child

The picture went round the world: a little boy in his father's arms in the midst of a hail of bullets, seeking refuge behind a rubbish bin - in vain: the twelve-year-old dies in front the cameras. Father and son had wandered into an exchange of fire between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers. His death makes the boy a martyr. The film scene becomes a dramatic indictment of Israel.

This film examines the spectacular pictures and calls into question what at first glance seems perfectly clear. Was it really Israeli soldiers who fired the fatal bullets? Was it an accident? Was it murder? Who shot Mohammed Al-Dura? The author reconstructs the tragedy in meticulous detail, follows all trails, questions all those involved and comes to spectacular results.

A film on truth as a casualty of war, on the role of the media, on the deadly logic of the occupation policy and on the use of children as  propaganda; a film which will cause viewers to question the pictures in their own minds.

Vater und Sohn waren in einen Schusswechsel zwischen Palästinensern und israelischen Soldaten geraten. Sein Tod macht den Jungen zum Märtyrer. Die Filmszene wird zur dramatischen Anklage gegen Israel.

Der Film untersucht die spektakulären Bilder und stellt in Frage, was zunächst völlig eindeutig scheint. Waren es wirklich israelische Soldaten, die die tödlichen Kugeln abfeuerten? War es ein Unfall? War es Mord? Wer erschoss Mohammed Al-Dura?
