Upper Bavaria is the largest administrative district in Bavaria. In the first part of this documentary, the crosses on the summits of Wallberg, Wendelstein and Watzmann testify to the Christian connection between the people here and the impressive natural environment. Both Marktl, the birthplace of Pope Benedict XVI, and the locations of his early posts as Josef Ratzinger in Chiemgau are now part of the rich white-and-blue tapestry of religious treasures in Bavaria.
