Through precise observation and evaluation of his results, he succeeded in proving the structure of our solar system. He discovered the shape of the orbits in which the planets move: Johannes Kepler. Many of his insights were way ahead of his time. It was not until half a century after his death that his theories were taken up - but then they provided an important foundation for modern astronomy. Ein halbes Jahrhundert nach der Idee von Kopernikus' Weltbild gelingt es dem deutschen Astronom und Mathematiker Johannes Kepler, anhand der Beobachtungen des Dänen Tycho Brahe, eine genaues Bild unseres Sonnensystems zu zeichnen. Mit Hilfe seiner Gesetze über die Planetenbewegungen konnte er beweisen, dass nicht mehr Engel, sondern eine von der Sonne ausgehende Kraft die Planeten führt. Mit seiner Arbeit hat Kepler das kopernikanische Weltbild unangreifbar gemacht. Auch wenn die Anerkennung zu Lebzeiten ausblieb: Auf Keplers Leistung gründet unsere moderne Weltsicht - bis heute.
