The documentary "Istanbul - Seas, Walls and Mosques" aims to showcase the beauty of Ottoman art and in so doing to raise awareness about present-day Turkey and Islam. With pictures of mosques and palaces, not all of which are well-known, Michael Bauer and his cameraman Robert Kumeth document in calm, suggestive shots the mutual cultural influences of Orient and Occident, of Islamic and Christian art and architecture.

Die Dokumentation "Istanbul - Meere, Mauern und Moscheen" will die Schönheit osmanischer Kunst vor Augen führen und dabei den Blick auch für die heutige Türkei und den Islam schärfen. Anhand von vielen auch weniger bekannten Moscheen und Palästen in Istanbul dokumentieren Michael Bauer und sein Kameramann Robert Kumeth in ruhigen, suggestiven Einstellungen die gegenseitigen kulturellen Einflüsse von Orient und Okzident, islamischer und christlicher Kunst und Architektur.
