An exploration of China and its place in world culture. From the Great Wall to the great metropolis that is Beijing, we visit some of the most important world heritage sites this vast and ancient country has to offer, starting in the very modern company of China's newest generation of artists.
The Great Wall of China winds its way for nearly nine-thousand kilometers through the vast landscape. No other work of human hand can compare with it. Its creation is a story of passion and success.
Fast forward to modern day Beijing to another story of passion and success, the art exhibition "The Path of 8 - Art in Beijing" which Max Moor uses as the starting point for his journey to the most important world heritage sites in China. The exhibition's title refers to the curator's search for the multiple forms of expression of the latest generation of Chinese artists. The exhibition shows that for many their art is less and less about aesthetics and is increasingly a discourse with the current political, economic and cultural issues of their country.
