The season of bower building has started again in the woods of West Papua New Guinea: earlier visitors of Papua New Guinea thought the constructions which are similar to huts and oftentimes have a diameter of more than 1 meter with a height of also more than 1 meter, were Wendy houses of the children from the nearby villages. At last, natural scientists could explain that these constructions are places for the mating rituals of birds which were accordingly named "bowerbirds". Scientists describe the bowers as secondary sex characteristics as unlike to the related birds of paradise or many other animals, the bower birds do not parade their gorgeous plumage but attract their hens by means of extraordinarily constructed courtship and pairing places, unparalleled in the animal world.
