The hedgehog is a welcome inhabitant of front yards and woods - its life, however, is clouded in secrecy. For scientists and many of its enemies the animal with its prickly fur is a hard nut to crack. Even though the prickly knight's brain is tiny and archaic, it masters its life with cleverness and confidence as it is a designated expert with a phenomenal sense of smell. The film team accompanied the hedgehog in its habitat, got to know friend and foe and saw where hedgehogs spend the Winter.
