The high mountain area of the Andes in the west of Venezuela is one of the most beautiful mountainous regions in South America. At a height of over 4,000 metres only a few animals are able to survive. One of these is the chivito, a species of humming bird. The condor also soars through the sky here and shows the film team the way to a particularly hot and humid habitat at the foot of the Andes, the Llanos grasslands. This birds' paradise in the midst of countless water hyacinths is the habitat of the chiguire or capybara, the red howler monkey, the brown caiman and the anaconda, the biggest snake in South America. The swampy grasslands (llanos) are demarcated in the east of Venezuela by the Guyana Highlands - an impenetrable jungle from which the imposing table mountains (tepuis) loom up to the sky. Aerial shots convey stunning images of the bizarre beauty of these primeval sandstone blocks. The surrounding rainforest area presents sensational wonders of nature, such as the Salto Angel (Angel Falls), the world's longest waterfall, one kilometre in length, or the Quebrada de Jaspe, a ravine in a riverbed of pure jasper, a semi-precious stone. This magical world is populated by the bright-red Barbary partridges, the sulphur-yellow poison-dart frogs, the blue tangares and the nimble capuchin monkeys.

Das Anden-Hochgebirge im Westen Venezuelas zählt zu den schönsten Bergregionen Südamerikas. In einer Höhe von über 4.000 Metern können nur noch wenige Tiere existieren. Zu ihnen gehört der Chivíto - eine Kolibriart. Auch der Kondor zieht hier seine Kreise und zeigt dem Filmteam den Weg zu einem besonders heißen und feuchten Lebensraum am Fuße der Anden, den Llanos-Sümpfen. Dieses Vogelparadies inmitten unzähliger Wasserhyazinthen ist der Lebensraum des Chiguire, des Wasserschweins, des roten Brüllaffen, des Brillenkaimans und der Anaconda, der größten Schlange Südamerikas. Die sumpfigen Ebenen (Llanos) werden im Osten Venezuelas vom Guyana-Hochland begrenzt - ein undurchdringlicher Dschungel, aus dem die imposanten Tafelberge (Tepuis) emporragen. Flugaufnahmen vermitteln eindrucksvoll die bizarre Schönheit der gewaltigen Sandsteinblöcke aus der Urzeit. Das umliegende Regenwaldgebiet wartet mit sensationellen Naturschönheiten auf, wie etwa dem Salto Angel, dem längsten Wasserfall der Erde mit einem Kilometer Länge oder die Quebrada de Jaspe, eine Schlucht in einem Flussbett aus purem Jaspis-Halbedelstein. Diese Zauberwelt bevölkern die leuchtend roten Felsenhähne, die schwefelgelben Pfeilgiftfrösche, die blauen Tangare und die flinken Kapuzineraffen.
