The Chimpanzees Of Ngambe Island (154/268)

In Uganda it still goes on - illegal dealing with chimpanzee babies, entire families are still being slaughtered so that their babies can be seized and then smuggled out of the country to eke out a miserable existence in disreputable zoos. Sometimes the police manage to confiscate these animals. However, the primate section in Entebbe has until now only been able to save the chimpanzees from the worst fate - it could not offer them a life in freedom. Ngamba Island could now become a new wild habitat for these animals: 19 chimpanzees, all captured as babies in the wild, will now learn to live as chimpanzees among chimpanzees on the island of Ngamba.
