5,000 years ago, when man tamed camels as domestic animals, he gained the best possible companions for the desert: camels can survive without water for weeks, carry heavy loads in scorching heat and are also an unflagging means of transport through the desert. Up to the present day, the life of the Bedouins is still closely entwined with their camels: they keep them not only as pack animals and for transport, but they also drink their milk and eat their meat. The relationship between the Bedouins and their camels is characterized by mutual dependence. Watching the Bedouins with their animals, one soon poses the question: have the people assumed the characteristics of the animals, or is it the camels who have acquired human characteristics?
