When a female Army recruit is found dead, it leads investigators Steiger and Reiter on the trail of her Turkish ex-boyfriend, who was fighting over their daughter's custody - and onto the Army base, as well...  

A young female soldier, who was just going through rigorous training for a peace-keeping mission abroad, is found dead in her apartment. The prime suspect is her Turkish ex-boyfriend, with whom she was fighting over custody of their daughter. But the trail also leads to the Army itself. "Not another Army investigation," groans Inspector Steiger, who held a captain's rank herself once. She also went through the physically and mentally trying basic training for foreign duty. Meanwhile, her new partner Reiter, who was assigned to her after her boss Papen was killed on duty, pursues the trail of the victim's ex-lover. He's no stranger to the police, and was in trouble with the vice squad before. But is Deniz really the Turkish macho he's pretending to be? What is his relationship to his little daughter Emina, who loves her daddy more than anything? Investigating on base forces Inspector Steiger to confront her own military past as well. Top of her list is Staff Sergeant Melzer, the gruff drill instructor. But the victim's fellow female soldiers seem to have their share of secrets as well, and refuse to cooperate with the investigation...
