Once upon a time there was a queen who longed for a child with all her heart. And one day her wish was granted: the little princess was named Snow White, and she was very beautiful.

But the queen died and the king took a new wife. She, too, was very beautiful, but proud and cruel - and very jealous of Snow White's beauty. So great was her vanity that she kept asking her magic mirror: "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who in this land is fairest of all?". The stepmother flew into a rage when it replied that Snow White was a thousand times more beautiful than she was. The vain queen could not and would not accept this, and she ordered a huntsman to kill Snow White. But he spared her and let run away into the forest.
Snow White arrived at the dwelling of the seven dwarves, who welcomed her into their home. Soon the queen found out about this through her mirror. Beside herself with anger, she decided to kill Snow White herself. She set off in disguise, and at her third attempt she achieved her aim. But a young prince was able to bring Snow White back to life - and the evil stepmother received her just punishment.
