They are described as hunter robots, for their biosensors are among the finest evolution has ever produced. And yet they are actually real oldtimers: sharks have been around for 65 million years. Erich Ritter has been living with sharks for years. His aim is to learn how to understand these animals, often unfairly branded as dull-witted eating machines, and to decipher their language so as to make contact with them. With this knowledge he hopes to work out ways of saving people from shark attacks, which often end fatally. Erich Ritter, originally from Switzerland, has been running a research centre in Walker's Key on the Bahamas for years. In the sea he encounters various types of shark, huge bull sharks for example. Fearlessly he stands before the wide-open jaws of the monsters, which are aimed at his stomach - for he knows their language and he understands the meaning of their gestures.
