Ripe coconuts are hanging in dizzying altitude - harvesting them is a hazardous attempt for human beings. Therefore, about 99 % of this work is carried out by monkeys in Thailand's South, the Stump-Tailed Macaques. They are about ten times as fast as people and can harvest up to 1,000 coconuts a day. Unfortunately though, the macaques are trapped in the wilderness and oftentimes trained by means of blows and punishment. Inspired by a Buddhist monk, however, a monkey school was founded where things are done differently. Somjai Saekhow teaches her pupils with lots of love and an endless patience how to identify ripe coconuts, how to pick them and how to gather them from the water afterwards. She even teaches them to ride the motor bike for their way to the harvest...
