A folk tale recounts how a white she-wolf once came to the aid of a nomad tribe in the Ural, leading to a pact with the wolves which held for centuries. But not forever.   In the post-Communist era, Bashkortostan, the Land of the White Wolf, has fallen prey to the new class of New Russians, the newly rich profiteers who can afford anything and are constantly looking for new ways to live out their thirst for adventure. Their latest winter sport is big game hunting. Equipped with the biggest and best hunting rifles and fastest, most expensive snowmobiles, they race across the vast, snow-covered expanse of the Ural. Their prime targets are wolves. Respect for nature or ecology is not at the top of their agenda. Today it is not the nomads in the Ural who are in danger, but the wolves. But then a new White Wolf appears...
