Rambo II On The Black Beach - Crested Black Macaques (137/268)

When they threaten someone, they flatten their ears and a pointed crest rises on their heads. If the rainforest fails to offer them enough figs, then they simply crack open coconuts with their powerful canine teeth. Although the crested black macaques (macaca nigra) on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi are a very adaptable species of monkey, their future is by no means secure. The slopes of the volcano Tankoko have been declared a National Park, yet this has not deterred poachers from raiding them. Even the group of monkeys, known as "Rambo II" due to their strength and stamina, has to be on the alert - whether in the dense forest or while exploring remote beaches.
