The Ngorongoro crater in Tansania is world-famous: for the diversity of its animals - and for its rhinoceroses. For only here and in the neighbouring Serengiti are the last black rhinoceroses to be found living in the wilds - elsewhere in Africa they are only safe behind bars. Whereas in the 1960s over 100 rhinoceroses still lived in the crater, there are now only twelve. Despite being closely guarded, only two years ago a rhinoceros was killed by game-hunters. There are now not enough wild animals left to ensure the survival of this species. Hence the decision was made to strengthen the group: with "Phantom" and "Tandy", two animals from a protected reserve in South Africa. But will they be able to cope in their new home? And will "John", "Runyoro" and "Mikidadi", the male rhinoceroses in the crater, accept the newcomers? These are exciting weeks in Ngorongoro: the difficult transport, the period of acclimatization, setting the animals free - and then?
