Little Red Riding Hood and Hollywood tell a lie! In contrast to their reputation as villains who attack people, wolves are in fact rather shy creatures. And this is why there are only few places in the world where one can observe wild wolves: one of those is the Yellowstone National Park. Once hunted relentlessly, the wolves here have become the darlings of the visitors since socalled "wolf watchers" can sometimes observe them - however, only through a very strong telescope. One of the Yellowstone wolves has a particular fascination for the wolf watchers: for days on end they persevere with telescopes at the viewing spots in the hope of discovering their favourite wolf, the "wolf no. 21". This wolf no. 21 - as the biologists have named him - really is something special. Anyone who knows the story of this fascinating animal will, in future, see Hollywood's horror stories about wolves in a different light.
