While Irene and Siegfried tussle over real estate, fate casts them together as new neighbors in real life. Irene's nine-year-old daughter takes a shine to their new neighbor's beloved female Dachshund. And Irene's charms are not lost on Siegfried, who is still wracked by distrust and disappointment in women since his divorce. When the Dachshund damsel suddenly disappears, Irene and Siegfried unexpectedly have to pull together. But their newfound harmony is only short-lived...

Die Hebamme Irene träumt schon lange von einem eigenen Entbindungshaus. Nun hat sie endlich das passende Grundstück gefunden. Der idyllische Baugrund interessiert jedoch auch den Bestattungsunternehmer Siegfried, der dort einen privaten Friedhof eröffnen möchte. Obwohl Irene und Siegfried wegen des Grundstücks aneinander geraten, will es der Zufall, dass sie Nachbarn werden. Schnell schließt Irenes neunjährige Tochter die geliebte Dackelhündin des neuen Nachbarn ins Herz. Und Siegfried, der nach seiner Scheidung vor vielen Jahren Frauen gegenüber misstrauisch ist, entwickelt ein Auge für Irenes Reize. Das plötzliche Verschwinden der Hundedame bringt Irene und Siegfried einander unerwartet näher. Die Harmonie ist jedoch nur von kurzer Dauer.
