Land of the Bears - Roaming through the South of Kamchatka (178/268)

Gamekeeper Wasilli lives on the peninsula of Kamchatka. The bear that is facing him at a distance of only three metres is well known to him. Although the animal is only four years old, when standing upright it is already a head taller than he is. In a moment like this the animal expert knows that everything depends on the bear. For should it attack, then it is too late to take the rifle from his shoulder and pull the trigger. Wasilli has to trust that his experience hasn't deceived him: and, indeed, the bear turns away, carries on down its path as if it had met not a human being but another animal it has known for a long time but is not interested in... The south of Kamchatka is the land of the bears, nowhere else can one come so close to brown bears. But whoever visits the land of the bears has to observe certain rules of behaviour, otherwise the Kamchatka brown bears will be definitely not amused.
