Jorinde and Joringel are in love and want to spend their lives together. But Jorinde's father doesn't approve of the servant boy Joringel, and forbids their marriage. The young lovers elope, running away into the woods, where Jorinde is kidnapped by an evil sorceress, who collects young girls and turns them into nightingales. No one has ever escaped from the witch's realm. But Joringel has a plan: He tricks a terrible robber baron and steals his most prized possession, a magic flower, with whose power Joringel wants to free his love. But the robber baron doesn't let him get away that easily, taking up pursuit with his two henchmen. Meanwhile, the sorceress is doing her utmost to separate Jorinde from her Joringel for good. And she seems to know a thing or two about the robber baron, as well...
