A landscape in the mould of the ice-age, where a mosaic of primeval habitats has been preserved, with unspoilt forests, vast moors and natural lakes: the National Park of Müritz. Over 60 years ago the first nature reserve was set up in this region. Today the National Park is a refuge for rare fauna and flora, for species threatened by extinction. The osprey, almost extinct in western Europe, is able to lead a peaceful existence here. Otters, terrapins, spotted woodpeckers, digger wasps and many other animals have all found a home here.
