Hunting Grounds (26/268)

Our seas are home to many hunters and killers whose very names strike fear into the hearts of holidaymakers. Even on the tourist-crowded beaches of the Mediterranean, countless denizens of the deep are said to patrol the waters, casting a shadow over the bathing fun. From the jellyfish whose poisoned arrows leave nasty scars to the allegedly fatal sting of the greater weever fish that hides in the sand. From the blue shark to the gigantic six-gill sawshark. Biologist Christian Lott is hunting the hunters. But his journeys through the underwater world of the "Mare Nostrum" reveal a different picture. The large submarine hunters such as shark, tuna and the giant grouper fish are in fact facing extinction. Can these wonderful creatures still be saved?
