A respected university professor is murdered in his car while having sex. If the person who was with him was not the culprit, then she is a witness, but with no clues to go on, the police are left with a great many questions and few answers.
The French call it the "petite mort" but in a wooded area outside Nuremberg sex really did end in death for one man. Christian Ranstedt, married father of two, professor at the University of Erlangen and respected citizen of the city of Nuremberg was murdered in his car while in flagrante. The cause of death was two shots to the head from close range. When the police arrived, both car doors were open and the driver's seat with Ranstedt's dead body in it was pushed far back. The person who was with him in the car had disappeared, leaving no clues to her identity. Ranstedt's wife Julia thought her husband was at the university. His murder and all that it revealed about him has just brought her seemingly perfect life and that of her children crashing down around her. Why was Christian Ranstedt murdered? Why did it happen at such a compromising moment? And why was the person who was with him in the car allowed to live?
