For the first time, two wolves of different origins have succeeded in establishing new corridors for themselves in Europe, thereby connecting two populations that have been separated from each other for centuries - in the central Alps of Italy no less. Italian biologists have long hoped that this would happen, particularly since it is expected to provide a huge boost to the gene pool of the Italian subspecies.
