"Big Elephant" is a mighty bull that wanders the steppes and savannahs of northwestern Ngorongoro preserve in Tanzania, in search of food and elephant cows willing to mate. The females live in family groups of a dozen or more. The "Little Elephant" is one of these calves.
Together with his mother, his aunts and the other baby elephants, he roams the arid landscape amid a severe drought. The group has a hard time finding enough food every day. Whenever the Big Elephant visits the group, their food situation improves: The Big Elephant supplies cows and calves with juicy leaves and twigs from the tops of the Umbrella Thorn Acacias and other trees. On these visits, the Big Elephant rarely notices the Little One - even though he's probably his son. He's too interested in the females to pay attention to his offspring. The first thunderstorm since the drought becomes a rain party for the group.
Features spectacular footage of bulls fighting, an elephant wedding and the young calves playing with each other.
