Inspectors Sänger and Dellwö
have a mysterious series of killings on their hands, all somehow involving the
same family. Are they dealing with a deranged serial killer?
Rolf is a single parent with an autistic boy. Strapped
financially and personally desperate, he goes to visit the Staupen family to
ask them for help. He believes the Staupens derived their fortune from
defrauding his own family generations ago, on which their fortune has been
based to this day. When Rolf confronts old man Staupen with his case, the
reaction is anything but friendly. The paterfamilias insults and humiliates his
visitor until Rolf kills him in a blind rage. That night, Staupen's son
Balthasar discovers the body and starts to concoct his own plan... The
detectives focus on the inner family circle, but everyone has an alibi. As the
investigation stalls, more family members turn up dead. It appears the
detectives have a serial killer on their hands.
