Susann and Leo take DNA samples from all the male guests who attended the Mulliger party, in order to track down the unknown lover of murder victim, Artan Kabashi – a course of action which is met with fierce resistance from many villagers. Convinced that the Albanians are to blame for everything, a mob gathers outside the Kabashi's pizzeria. Police officer Leo manages to swap a false DNA sample for his own without being noticed – no-one, and especially not his wife, must ever find out about his secret affair. Shortly afterwards however, to the surprise of everyone, video recordings from a motel's CCTV system reveal his secret and he is arrested.

In the meantime, Kägi confronts his sister with the photo of the amulet which was found on Corinne's body. Laura doesn't want to hear it; all she wants to do is forget. Kägi tells Rosa his sister's painful story: 19 years previously Laura was raped leaving her pregnant with Simon. The rapist was never caught. Finding the amulet is tormenting Kägi who makes a desperate deal with his boss so that he can return to active duty. He starts going through files on unsolved rape cases and chances on the case of Jeanette Walter from Thallingen. When asked, village policewoman Susann tells him that her daughter was raped and then took her own life. The rapist was never caught. Kägi tries to discover the origin of the amulet but hits a dead end. A stripper tips him off to the fact that she had recognized the barman from the village pub, Toni, from a picture in the newspaper. She tells Kägi that a few years previously he had assaulted a friend of hers and had then disappeared. Shortly afterwards, a car parked outside the pub is hit with a Molotov cocktail and set alight. The old lady Sophie sees a hooded figure and is certain: the curse will take them all.
