Soof feels good since Kasper’s gone. Cheerful. She’s a single mum and the proud chef of her very own brand new home restaurant: the CookSoof. Cooking remains Soof’s passion. Who needs a man? There’s much work to be done before the CookSoof can open its doors, but nothing they can’t handle with the help of her mother Hansje, her friend Gerrit and Soof’s right hand Joy. The children now have a dad living an independent life, which allows them to stay with him while Soof focuses on getting ready for opening night. However, the twins do not care much for their dad’s warehouse. It may be big, but it’s not very warm. It’s full of boxes containing Kasper’s stock of lamps, the roof is leaking and the mother of Sterre – Dies’s girlfriend – is forever dropping by.
While Hansje helps her daughter out with the restaurant, she makes it pretty clear that she’d like for Soof to find a new love. Instigated by her own new romance, because Hansje and Gerrit have fallen for each other. Soof says she has no time for a new man. The CookSoof is her priority. Joy, a hard-working young woman, proves more adept in the kitchen than Hansje. Hansje is not one to take such competition lying down, and, afraid of becoming dispensable, she asserts herself in her own special and rather pedantic way.
Sasha returns from her hazing week, exhausted. She’s just started university. After she encounters Sterre’s mum at Kasper’s, she decides to go home to her mum’s to sleep it off. However, with opening night coming up, Soof has temporarily turned Sasha’s room into a laundry room, thinking she’d be staying with Kasper. It is clear that Soof and Kasper have yet to manage synchronising their schedules for their kids, now that they’re divorced.
Soof feels bad for her daughter, but at this point in time, the CookSoof has to come first. So much to do, and so little time. Like organizing some PR, for example. Soof has an influencer in mind, food vlogger Didier Broekhaas. Hansje is all in favour, Joy’s opposed. A man like that can make or break you. He stops by and turns out to be the kind of man that makes Soof uncomfortable. Which clearly shows in his footage. Didier is impressed with Soof’s recipes and says he might attend the opening that evening.
Meanwhile, the ceiling in Kasper’s warehouse collapses. He asks his landlord for help, but all he does is point out that he is living there illegally and summons him to vacate the premises within 48 hours. Kasper and the kids turn up on Soof’s doorstep, causing yet another distraction. Kasper has an idea, but Soof is not amenable to it. Not now. This is his problem. Without consulting her, Kasper invites a friend to measure the attic: he intends to split the house, renovate the attic and sell it off to use the money to buy a place of his own. His friend is busy and sends a colleague instead. Her name is Josien. Soof is pissed off and makes it very clear that this is not a convenient time. Josien leaves, happy to come back later.
Time’s short and Soof is getting anxious. Kasper is sweet and tries to calm her down. But there is too much to be done. Soof is worried her opening night is headed for disaster, but is surprised by her dear friends and family. Hansje, Gerrit, Joy and Kasper too have worked their socks off. The restaurant is all set for opening night, the neon letter sign is switched on and the CookSoof is up and running. Despite the competition between Hansje and Joy, Bing being sick, a visit from Sterre’s mum, the uncomfortable presence of Didier Broekhaas and some blowing fuses, opening night is a resounding success. Soof’s fabulous cooking skills outweigh the chaos. The guests are satisfied. Kasper saved the day on a number of occasions, for which Soof is very grateful. Her decision is made.
The next morning she calls Josien. She will allow Kasper to temporarily move into the attic as long as he works on renovating it. She breaks the news, only to realise that everyone is acting peculiarly. Didier Broekhaas has posted a film clip ridiculing Soof, which has gone viral. How will this impact of the CookSoof’s success? Plus the burning question: Everything under one roof? Work, kids…and an ex-husband. Can this work out?
