Remi calls out for Zerbino. Running in his direction, the dog accidentally gets hit by a truck. There is Zerbino, lying on his side, motionless. Remi plays him a beautiful song as his final goodbye. Later, when Remi is playing his trumpet in the streets, a father asks him to play a song for his daughters’ birthday. The spoiled girl is not interested in Remi’s music but falls in love with Appie. When her father offers to buy the piglet, Remi refuses. Remi has to flee and climbs into a ship mast at the harbor. He loses grip and tumbles down into the water.
