Hans asks Katja Wiese to interview him again. As long as Dunja Hausmann remains missing, releasing the Stasi files is his only way to fight Gaucke’s doctored files. Thanks to Falk Kupfer’s old Stasi methods and strong-arm tactics, Promittas Insurance becomes market leader in East Germany. As their relationship heats up, Falk’s physiotherapist Petra still knows nothing about his past. Falk’s romantic happiness makes him pensive, however. Ashamed of what he did, he resolves to help Hans. Falk tries to find out what really happened to Mischa Liebermann from his mother Marlene – but she’s not talking. When Falk finds out Gaucke is testifying against Hans, he tries to stop him. But Gaucke has to much dirt on Falk to be intimidated by him. Falk goes to see CIA agent Shnyder to ask for the protection he promised. But Shnyder wants something in return. Martin Kupfer is desperate: The furniture company is about to go under. He’s forced to lay off staff and accept investor Breger’s offer. He can’t wait for a response from the Treuhand Holding, who are swamped with work. After he signs with Breger, however, he tells him the company is doomed. He makes Martin an immoral offer.
Hans has decided to make the family secret around Mischa Liebermann public. What Falk finds out from him calls his whole life and relationship to his family in doubt.
