Katja Wiese and Martin Kupfer return home with Lisa only to get a call from Lisa’s modeling agency, demanding damages for Lisa’s disappearance. Katja threatens the agency to write about what goes on at the hotel in Milan.
Marlene Kupfer plays a decisive role in Günther Gaucke’s plan to hide the party money. They transfer the money to Switzerland by a roundabout way, Marlene smuggles it back to Berlin in cash. Peter Görlitz and Nicole Henning both try to use the bonanza of the border opening, helping each other out. Görlitz wants to start a used car dealership, Nicole strikes it rich with her “Sandwich Sling”.
The introduction of the West German D-Mark is bad for business at the furniture collective. West German investor Rüdiger Breger makes Martin and his co-workers an offer to save the business. Martin has a bad feeling, turns to the Holding instead, where his ex-sister-in-law promises to look at his proposal.
When Falk tells his brother Martin what he knows about the charges against their father Hans, Martin is convinced it’s just the old Stasi tricks, trying to put pressure on Hans. Hans comes to see Martin at the furniture factory to tell him how Mischa Liebermann died. A throng of reporters appears to hound Hans with cameras and questions.
Martin hides his father from the mob. The next day, he’s all over TV: They portray Hans as a murdered who refuses to talk to the press.
