Two very different brothers set out to find the water of life so that they can heal their father, the king, and thus become his sole rightful heir. A curse and several intrigues make the way difficult for the brothers – will good prevail over evil?
Two very different brothers Falk and Lennard go in search of the water of life, the only thing that can save their father, King Ansgar. The belligerent Falk is convinced that he will do this much better than his brother and sets off first. In the forest, he meets the mysterious Ms Salwa, to whom he pays scant regard. When he falls into a gorge shortly thereafter and fails to return to the castle, the good-natured Lennard sets out to find his brother and the water of life. He too meets Salwa, but treats her with generosity and respect. In return, the woman tells him the way to the castle where he will find the water of life. To break the curse on the castle and bring the dried-up spring back to life, Lennard wakes the sleeping Princess Frederike with a kiss. With the water of life in his hands, he must leave Frederike and hurry back to the sick king. On the way back, he finds and heals his wounded brother Falk, who instead of thanking him, starts to plot against his kindly brother. He swaps the healing water for ordinary water and uses it to heal his father himself. Lennard is banished, and a huntsman is ordered to kill him. He takes pity on the young prince, however, and allows him to escape. Arriving in time for the coronation celebrations for the would-be King Falk, Frederike discovers what has happened. But will she find Lennard in time to stop Falk from ascending the throne and to make right the injustice against her beloved?
