When terrorists seize the German embassy in Tunis, Karla discovers her young protegé Esra is in on the plot. Can she use her personal connection with the young woman to avoid a massacre?

Heavily armed terrorists take the German embassy in Tunis hostage, while Karla Lorenz is there conducting a security drill. Her young staffer Esra turns out to be a double agent, belonging to the terrorist group that wants to force the release of imprisoned Islamic terrorist. They make it very clear they're not kidding. The Foreign Office immediately sends a special agent to lead the negotiations. But the Tunisian authorities have no intention of being blackmailed. The situation in the embassy threatens to get out of hand. Experienced diplomat Karla knows very well political solutions don't always work.  She tries to work through Esra, to whom she was a kind of mentor. Karla finds out the young woman seems to have personal reasons for her actions. She hopes to be able to use her personal connection to the young woman to save the ambassador's life, whom the terrorists are threatening to kill?
