When the population of peaceful Ashdown Dean seems to be inexplicably killing itself off, it's another case for Scotland Yard Inspector Richard Jury and his friend Melrose Plant. But then both men fall for the same beautiful woman...In the idyllic hunting village of Ashdown Dean in Hampshire, postal worker Una Quick is found dead in a phone booth. Soon thereafter, pubkeeper Sally is dead too, and the mayor is ripped apart by his hunting dogs - just a few days before the fox hunt. Gillian herself has an eye on Inspector Jury, however, who actually strikes up a passionate romance with the beautiful lady.
