A Village under Suspicion (17/20)

The death of an investigative reporter leads Mehmet Özakin to a tiny mining village on the Black Sea, where all is not what it seems - and tradition and modernity clash in fateful and fatal ways.A charred body is found in a burned-out car on a deserted industrial lot. Mehmet and Mustafa identify the body with the help of the new coroner Derya - his wife Selma has already reported her husband Can Türkman missing. Can was a freelance blogger and journalist, working on a story about a defunct coal mine in his home town, the village of Tepek 350 km away. Mehmet Özakin travels to the tiny mining village, which doesn't even have a hotel, so he has to live with a local family. The big city cop soon has the whole village talking, his discoveries about the old mine and the widow's ties to his host family have everybody alarmed. When Selma's conservative mother betrays her own husband out of a sense of duty, things threaten to get out of hand.
